Let’s start by having you introduce yourself. Who makes up the group?
Frankie (vocals) and Brad (instruments)
Do you have any favorite Christmas memories?
Frankie: we had a purple Christmas hippo that my daughter would hug and talk to. The holiday is mostly about family, for me.
Brad: I love the anticipation of the holidays more than the actual holidays. It’s that time of year where, for a month or so, it feels like anything could happen.
What effect has Christmas music had on your life?
Brad: it’s extremely difficult to be unhappy about anything when you listen to Christmas music. Frankie: I like the sense of nostalgia, happiness, and warmth during the colder months.
What got you into writing holiday songs?
Brad: we had a family member who fell on tough times and we started writing to help raise money for them.
I see you only have Christmas songs up on Spotify, is there a story behind that decision?
Frankie: we are both currently active in other projects and it just made more sense to only have the pressure of writing and recording once a year. That is changing, though, so stay tuned!
Did you find that the writing process was different from a non holiday themed song?
Brad: not so much for the music, but when the lyrics start to happen, you might have to second guess the original progression.
Frankie: there’s less pressure when you write holiday music because there’s a little more freedom to be as cheesy as you want and not really worry about it.
What were you hoping the listener would take from the songs?
Frankie: that the songs would give them a good feeling. Maybe have as much fun as we did when recording them.
Let’s talk about your career in general, how did you get into music?
Frankie: I would play whatever instrument was in front of me. I can’t exactly pinpoint how I ended up here.
Brad: same. I was never good at sports, so music just kind of fit in that place.
You have several songs up for streaming, do you have a favorite, or one that really means a lot to you?
Brad: You and Me and Mistletoe was the first one we did and it turned out better than I could have hoped with our little studio setup. We didn’t even have it mastered. It just felt good the minute Frankie started singing. Frankie: That’s my favorite as well. For pretty much the same reasons.
I discovered this song, possibly the year it was released, and was hooked. It's what made me want to reach out and talk to you about your music. I didnt realize you had other songs until just recently and they are just as great.
Are you currently working on any new music?
Frankie: Yes! We have a few that we started awhile back and plan on finding time to finish them soon!
