Banu Gibson
Born in Dayton,Ohio on October 24th 1947. She is an American singer in traditional jazz.
she has released 13 albums under her own name. Most of which were released under her own record label Swing Out.
Gibson grow up in Hollywood, Florida. Where from an early age she studied voice with an opera singer. Gaining early experience playing in a Miami club opposite Phil Napoleon, and touring with Your Father's Mustache around 1969. She moved to New Orleans in 1973, commuting to Los Angeles and working in New Orleans doing choreography and directing. Gibson would eventually bring together a new six-piece band, which would become a regular act at traditional jazz festivals. Banu and her band have taken their music to the masses by including performances with symphony orchestras, including in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Tucson, San Diego, the Boston Pops, and New Orleans, and a three-night concert at the Hollywood Bowl with John Mauceri and the Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra.

The song is known to possibly be one of the first Halloween / Christmas hybrids, the singer of the song is concerned that the noise at the door might be Santa – or a prowler. Will Santa bring “something pleasantly pleasant” for the singer? Or maybe it’s only the wind.
"Oh there, Santa, you gave me a scare. Now stop teasing cause I know you’re there. We don’t believe in no goblins today, But I can’t explain why I’m shaking that way. Bet I can see ole Santa in the keyhole. I’ll get to the cause. One peek and I’ll try there; oh oh, there’s an eye there! ‘Zat you, Santa Claus?"
Although Armstrong recorded many Christmas singles, he never did an entire Christmas album.What A Wonderful Christmas is a compilation of his Christmas songs and came out in 1995, many years after his death. That same year, Banu Gibson would release her album with this song as her title track.

This album sounds like a product of decades before it's release. And perhaps that's why I didn't receive much fanfare outside of the Jazz communities. After all the 90's weren't know for Jazz, Taking a look at a "Top Hits of 95" shows us an influx of Boy bands and Pop artists who would give us such hits as Gangsta's Paradise (Coolio) and one of our seasons greatest(?) tracks All I Want For Christmas Is You (Mariah Carey). But This album is a classic in it's own right and deserves to be played each holiday season.
